Easy, Soft Burger/Hotdog Buns

Ingredients

  • 3.75 cups Flour
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2.25 tsp Dry Yeast
  • 1.25 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup canola Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt

Procedure

Warm up the milk to body temperature (don’t go over 110c)
In a large bowl (or your stand mixer) mix the sugar with the milk then add the yeast, stir a bit then let foam for 5-7 minutes.

Then add the Canola oil, mix. Then add the flour and the salt and knead with a bread hook (or by hand) for 7 minutes

Once mixed, divide in 10 for burger buns or 12 for hotdog buns

For the burger buns, roll in smooth round balls. For the HotDog buns, roll into a skinny sausage shape (not too skinny!!!)

Place the dough portions in a parchment lined pan and cover either with a lid, inverted pan or slightly damp thin cloth. Let rest for 60 minutes.

Set oven to 380°F and lightly brush the buns with egg wash (1 part egg, 1/4 part water) and cover with sesame seeds (optional).

Once the oven is at temperature, bake on the top rack for 18 minutes for Burger buns or 16 minutes for HotDog buns.

Remove from heat and set on a wire-rack to cool.
